Partner Trinh Nguyen trained by world top mediators at CEDR, IMI and ICSID, Energy Charter to deal with Investors-State disputes
Following the listing as the second ad-hoc Mediator in
Vietnam by Department of Justice of Ho Chi Minh City in early February 2018, Ms
Trinh Nguyen took her mediation skills up the next level and explored the new
era of applicability of mediation to settle investment disputes.
In May 8-10, 2018, Ms Trinh joined a selective advanced
specialized mediation skills course in Paris held by CEDR in partnership with
ICSID, Energy Charter Treaty, UNCITRAL, IMI to learn from the best of the best.
The trainers and participants are leading experts, practitioners, visiting
lecturers from Oxford & Cambridge, who each brought in average of 30 years
experience as arbitrators, mediators of complex and high value commercial and
investors-state disputes across Europe Asia and America and Africa. Among the
trainers is the renowned Founder President of CEDR – M. Karl Mackie who is the
only mediator so far who was given an honour by the state, Commander of the
Order of the British Empire (CBE), for services to mediation, both developing
and delivering it. Mr Karl is probably
the best known commercial mediator in the UK.
"The precious takeaway is the feeling of being involved
with pioneer spirit to explore how mediation could help investors-states
disputes and how it could work alongside with arbitration and other alternative
disputes resolution." said Ms Trinh.
